Writing is important to me.
Yet, I stepped away from it when I was teaching because I did not have time to write like I wanted. Teaching writing to middle school students requires special handling. As a fellow writer and mentor, I thoroughly enjoyed the many breakthroughs that my students encountered in their writing. I loved those moments in teaching.
I have kept a blog on and off since 2005 at ScandalizeMyName. com. While I loved the name of the website because it was unique (it is a song sung by the actor and activist, Paul Robeson), it did not always fit my needs as a writer and as a professional. I have relocated most of my posts from my old blog to this site. I will eventually sell scandalizemyname so if you are looking for a site to buy, please contact me.
I have lived all around the U.S. including California and New Mexico. I grew up in the New England area and I love the things that it offers. I love lobster, clam chowder, clams with the bellies, subs, and diverse cuisine. Okay, I love food, and I enjoy cooking too. I would not doubt that some day in the future that I will open a restaurant despite its low success rate as a business.
As far as my writing, I have written plays, screenplays, short fiction, blogs, and articles. I have placed in a few contests which led to writing residencies. I have held two major writing residencies at the Jack Kerouac Writing Project in Orlando and at the Blue Mountain Center in New York.
I am also a co-founder of the Roxbury Film Festival, now called Roxbury International Film Festival located in the Boston area. The focus of the film festival is to provide an avenue for films by and about people of color. I have judged films, scouted films, and introduced films. I also managed the venues, coordinated equipment pick ups and set up, and handled incoming/outgoing films.
Currently, I am working on my graduate thesis in Arts Administration, seeking projects, and working on personal goals.
